Games

The Hakuōki series of otome visual novels were released for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS by Idea Factory. Two of the games have been published in English by Aksys Games in North America on PlayStation Portable. Rising Star Games renewed partnership with Idea Factory to bring two of their Hakuōki games to PAL territories: Hakuōki: Kyoto Winds and Hakuōki: Edo Blossoms that were released on Steam.

Story

Set in the turbulent times of the Bakumatsu, the game follows the leading character Chizuru Yukimura, as she heads to Kyoto in search of her father. Finding herself confronted by the Rasetsu, a secret existence of the Shinsengumi, and meeting the Shinsengumi members.

This article contains the list of all the games from the Hakuōki series. There are only 5 main games that unveil the story, 2 of them being a remake of the original game:

• Shinsengumi Kitan (main game);
  • Kyoto Winds (first half of the Shinkai remake);
  • Edo Blossoms (second half of the Shinkai remake);
• Reimeiroku (prequel);
• Sweet School Life (modern-day spin-off).

Additional games work as OVA series in the anime: they add more details to the main story in different formats (typical otome, chibi-version, action game) or they may be a completely different story set in the same universe.
