The One I Want To Protect (守るべき人 Mamorubeki hito) is the fourth episode of Hakuouki: Sweet School Life (Live Action). It aired on October 15, 2015. The story of Sweet School Life is set in the modern-day Japan with all the Hakuouki characters re-imagined accordingly. Instead of being samurai and fighting for their ideals, all the characters are now school teachers or students, and their day-to-day life is filled with more trivial matters, such as exams and school events. The Live Action version is meant to be a comedy with character personality enhancement, multiple references to the original story and light-hearted vibes overall.

Chizuru gets stabbed

The Shinsengumi find Chizuru in a building where she was taken by rogue samurai, and they fight for her survival. Hijikata thinks for himself that he will protect Chizuru even if it costs him his life, and others have similar thoughts, including Saitou and Heisuke. Chizuru, scared for her own life and the lives of her friends, wonders whether their fates would be any different if they existed in some other time, different to that one. Harada and Okita also think about how they want to ensure Chizuru's safety. Heisuke tells Chizuru to run, but she gets stabbed right before she is able to escape...

7 days left until the Cultural Fair where Chizuru's class is supposed to present their Maid Café. Chizuru presents her classmates the drawing of her maid outfit, and they all get excited. Harada-sensei advises to run the design through Hijikata-sensei just in case.
Chizuru is visited by Sen and Kosuzu
Heisuke and Shinpachi depressed on the roof
The story moves to Chizuru's house where she is visited by Sen and Kosuzu, and the latter asks whether Ibuki attends Hakuou Academy. Hearing that he is in Chizuru's class, Kosuzu begs her to introduce them. Sen explains that they recently got picked on by a group of delinquents, and Ibuki chased them away, which is why Kosuzu is so into him now.
Next day, Heisuke is on the roof still mulling over how he saw Chizuru with Hijikata-sensei by her house. He wants to confess his feelings for her but decides against it. A moment later he realizes that Shinpatsu is sitting next to him, drowning in his own despair as he is forced to watch his students organize a haunted house for the upcoming fair, and he is scared of ghosts. It upsets him to the point of regretting ever becoming a teacher. He eventually moves to the same bench as Heisuke and steals his food, asking him about his own worries, but Heisuke decides not to share. Shinpatsu's advice is to stop thinking too much about problems and do what he believes is right.
Amagiri and Shiranui take Kazama away
Chizuru is walking downstairs when she is suddenly stopped by an exclamation "My wife!" meant to address her. She turns around to see Kazama who mentions the time they ate together in a school cafeteria. Knowing about her class's plan to make a maid café, he offers to provide her with the most exquisite maid uniform worthy of his family name that his bride will inherit, on the condition that she can only show it to him. She thanks him for the offer, and he is already excited when she finishes the sentence and refuses it. Amagiri and Shiranui have to take Kazama away as he seems to have lost his will to continue.
Hijikata finds Itou drawing a poster for the fair and reminds him of the deadline that he missed last year. Itou dramatically falls on his knees and apologizes, and Hijikata leaves without saying a word.
Harada helps Chizuru carry her shopping bags
Harada-sensei helps Chizuru bring shopping bags with things needed for the maid outfit and interior decorations. He trips and drops the bags, and they headbutt each other while trying to collect the stuff from the ground. Saitou watches them laughing from afar and wonders why his heart is pounding loudly, not realizing his feelings for Chizuru.
Back in the student's council room, Kazama talks to Chizuru's picture on the wall asking what surprise she wants, and Shiranui advises him to give up. Amagiri joins pointing out than buying love with gifts is not the best idea.
Harada stumbles upon Hijikata who gets annoyed learning that Harada went shopping with Chizuru. Harada notices Hijikata's feelings and tries to explain that he did it as a teacher and then teases Hijikata that he is not talking strictly from an education point of view. Hijikata gets even more frustrated and leaves.
Chizuru protects Ibuki
Chizuru introduces Kosuzu and Sen to Ibuki, and they all walk back home with Ibuki and Kosuzu getting along and talking. They get stopped by the same group of delinquents that Sen described earlier who pick on Ibuki for interfering last time. One of them punches Ibuki, and he loses consciousness, but Chizuru protects him with her body telling the delinquents to stop. She slaps their leader, and he decides to take her away with him to their base. Chizuru yells at Sen and Kosuzu to get help, and they run away. Kosuzu comes back for Ibuki and starts shaking him, Saitou sees them and learns about the situation, while Sen finds Harada, and they run to help. Harada calls Hijikata, who gathers more people and follows them.
