Smile For You (最終話 Saishū wa, The last episode) is the sixth episode of Hakuouki: Sweet School Life (Live Action). It aired on October 29, 2015. The story of Sweet School Life is set in the modern-day Japan with all the Hakuouki characters re-imagined accordingly. Instead of being samurai and fighting for their ideals, all the characters are now school teachers or students, and their day-to-day life is filled with more trivial matters, such as exams and school events. The Live Action version is meant to be a comedy with character personality enhancement, multiple references to the original story and light-hearted vibes overall.
Plot

Chizuru gets wounded in the heart and falls on her knees panting, Saitou and others keep protecting her while she reassures Saitou that she is alright and can hold on. Kazama appears behind her with his eyes glowing red, and the Shinsengumi recognize him calling his name. When the rogue samurai hear that the demon has arrived, they run away screaming in fear.
Everyone gathers around Chizuru with Hijikata hugging her and asking her to hold on, and Kazama claims that such a wound shall not kill a demon fated to marry him. Despite Kazama's confidence, Chizuru mutters that the wound is not healing and keeps panting and coughing. Kazama swears to kill everyone who was responsible for attacking her in the heart, and Chizuru starts apologizing for putting everyone in danger. Hijikata and Heisuke try to convince her that it was not her fault, and she dies saying that she was happy to meet them all.
Hijikata screams her name while holding her unconscious body in his arms, and Chizuru's voice wonders behind the scenes if their fates would be any different with them being somewhere else...

Hijikata puts his coat on Chizuru's shoulders
The scene repeats itself in the modern-day setting, and one of the delinquents is prepared to attack Chizuru with a knife. Everyone witnesses it and shouts at her to be careful but she is frozen in shock and fear and cannot move. Harada manages to save Chizuru by kicking the knife out of the guy's hand, and the battle resumes. Chizuru falls on her knees powerless, and another delinquent closes the gates to the warehouse ready to kill Chizuru. Saitou easily fights him off asking if Chizuru is okay and telling her to hang on a bit longer while calling her a nice person. Chizuru looks at everyone who is fighting on her behalf and almost starts crying but Kazama interferes entering the gates and wondering how long the battle is meant to continue. A few delinquents try to attack him as he proclaims that he will not forgive whoever attacks his future wife, but Shiranui and Amagiri easily defend him, and all the enemies run away scared. Everyone looks at Chizuru, and she is sitting with her head down about to cry.
Everyone is waiting for news about Chizuru
As everyone returns to school, Chizuru is left alone in the teacher's room, and Hijikata puts his coat over her shoulders telling her to rest. As he is about to walk out, she quietly mumbles that she is sorry for putting everyone in danger by being captured. Hijikata asks her not to worry and leaves, and everyone is behind the door waiting to hear about her emotional state. According to Shiranui, Kazama learnt that Chizuru was supposed to meet with Ibuki and had Amigiri tail them which is how he learnt about the situation, and the look on his face at that moment was demon-like. Kazama explains that he promised to protect Chizuru no matter what happens, and suddenly everyone hears Chizuru crying alone in the room.
A few days later Itou-sensei hangs a poster about the upcoming school festival on the wall calling it a masterpiece and getting a disapproving look from Kaoru who is waiting for the students at the gate along with Saitou as members of the Disciplinary Committee. Heisuke walks to the gate looking upset and Kaoru tries to scold him for being barely on time but quickly notices that something feels off. He wonders about his sister who has skipped school for the second day in a row and reveals his unawareness of the situation. As he is distracted by another student, Saitou asks about Chizuru's real condition, and Heisuke reinstates that she feels sorry for dragging everyone in that mess.
Sannan wishes to finally get a test subject
While checking everyone's attendance, Harada-sensei notices that Yukimura is absent, and at the same time Hijikata-sensei asks Heisuke why Souji is not present but there is no information about his whereabouts. Souji is then seen on the roof looking through Chizuru's pictures on his phone while Kazama wonders about Chizuru's presence looking at her portraits in the Student's Council room. Shinpachi asks about Yukimura in the teacher's room, and Itou also joins the discussion with a question, but Hijikata dismisses them both claiming that she caught a cold. Sannan happens to hear about that when entering the room and takes out a vial of Ochimizu as a solution but Hijikata interrupts him announcing the Hakuou Festival that is supposed to happen tomorrow, so everyone leaves to look through some documents. Disappointed, Sannan wishes that someone would let him get the data he needs about Ochimizu.

While students prepare for the festival, they dress Ibuki in Yukimura's maid outfit due to her absence. Harada catches Hijikata in the corridor informing him of his intention to visit Yukimura's home as her teacher but he cannot do so as the class is arguing over who should be Yukimura's substitute, and Ibuki, dressed as a maid and followed by his classmates, runs past Hijikata. Hijikata takes the hint and decides to visit Yukimura by himself.
Hijikata comes to talk to Chizuru
As Hijikata-sensei rings the doorbell, Chizuru comes out to greet him with her head down. He enquires about her well-being, and she assures him that her physical health is fine. He wonders if it was scary but she insists that it was not. Suddenly Hijikata promises to protect her but quickly realizes that it sounds wrong so he turns away and corrects himself by promising to protect all students, as the vice-principal of the academy. He explains that him saving her was a given, and the others also wanted to help her wholeheartedly. He asks her to come back claiming that nobody is going to blame her, but she does not respond.
Later in the evening Souji receives a call from Hijikata while eating with Heisuke at the diner and decides not to pick up but Heisuke convinces him to talk to the teacher. According to Souji, the news was happy.

Next morning, while everyone runs to school, Souji walks to the gate and stands next to Kaoru who questions his actions. Harada-sensei comes to them wearing an apron, which leaves Kaoru even more confused. Ryuunosuke approaches the gate, greets everyone and stands next to Harada-sensei. Adding to Kaoru's complete shock, Kazama and his sidekicks walk towards the gate as well with Kazama climbing on top of the brick right pillar. Heisuke comes to school alone, and now everyone else is unsure what is happening since Souji informed them of a different thing, but Heisuke seems happy and asks them to wait a little. Chizuru runs towards them panting, and everyone is surprised and glad to finally see her. They greet her one by one, and she smiles at them all, when Hijikata-sensei's harsh voice interrupts the reunion unaware of the reason for their gathering. Seeing Chizuru, he smiles and announces the beginning of the festival. Just as they are all about to go in, she stops them by speaking up and saying that she is happy to have met them all, asking to take care for her in the future. Everyone smiles, and Nagakura-sensei, followed by Yamazaki, Sannan and Itou, urges them to join the festival.
The episode ends with Kazama telling Shiranui and Amagiri that he cannot get down from the pillar.
