Hakuōki: Otogisōshi (薄桜鬼〜御伽草子〜, Demon of the Fleeting Blossom: Fairy Tale Book) is a series of 3-minute long episodes about the Hakuōki characters in a chibi format (the 'super deformed' style of drawing characters with oversized heads[1]). The story offers a look at what a typical day could look like if the Shinsengumi did not have to deal with difficult situations.
The color palette is very bright in contrast to the original Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan (Demon of the Fleeting Blossom: The Tale of the Shinsengumi), the events mostly happen during the day, each character's simplified outfit has a distinct color that stands out as well as their big eyes.

Synopsis
Having come to Tokyo to search for her father, Chizuru ends up living with the Shinsengumi due to certain reasons. She searches for her father and hopes to find him as soon as possible but the task proves to be difficult despite all the efforts. The chibi Shinsengumi try to help her or sometimes enjoy watching her instead, and the peaceful atmosphere fills the story.
