Tonouchi Yoshio (殿内義雄) (1830 - May 12, 1863) was a member of Rōshigumi who appeared very briefly in the Reimeiroku prequel. During his most noticeable appearance, he enquired why Serizawa silently accepted the new Rules of Conduct proposed by Hijikata and Sannan, as well as the new structure of the group. He made it clear that in case Serizawa ever wanted to get rid of Kondou's faction of the Rōshigumi, Tonouchi himself would be glad to lend a hand. After Serizawa told Okita about it, Okita invited Tonouchi for a drink pretending to ask for advice, and Tonouchi repeated the same thing to Souji, highlighting the fact that both him and Souji were born into samurai families unlike Kondou and Hijikata. Listening to Tonouchi's drunken speeches about how Kondou needed to die prompted Souji to kill him in cold blood. Serizawa later explained that Tonouchi was two-faced and did not wish to follow the rules, therefore his death was warranted.
Hirama Jyuusuke (平間重助) (1824- August 22, 1874) is a member of the Rōshigumi whose family serves the Serizawa family as their retainers. He is polite and timid, trying to de-escalate conflicts and often helping out Ryuunosuke when it comes to Serizawa. He makes a brief appearance accompanying Niimi in the beginning of the series and does not reappear until the decision to depart to Osaka and apprehend some rogue samurai. Hirama saves Ryuunosuke from getting beaten by Serizawa as he volunteers to accompany the commander and carry his luggage, claiming that he has some work for Ryuunosuke to do. When asked later, he admits to having told a lie in order to stop Serizawa from forcing Ryuunosuke to come along, but does not consider it anything grand from his side. Next time Hirama appears when Oume comes for payment as Serizawa has not paid for the new Rōshigumi uniforms her husband's store has produced. He promises her to forward her complaints to the commander and later explains the purpose of her visit to Ryuunosuke. Later on in the series, Hirama appears near Serizawa and witnesses the first public display of his disease.

Sasaki Aijirou (佐々木愛次郎) (1845 - September 14, 1863) was a member of the Rōshigumi. He made his first appearance informing Harada about a rogue samurai who ran off seeing the Rōshigumi. Sasaki was a serious person who put his duty above everything else including his love life, which was shown when the squad walked past a couple of women one of whom blushed looking at him, and his comrades teased him about talking to her but he refused as they were "on duty". The last time Sasaki is seen walking his woman home when they encounter an escaped Rasetsu attacking someone in a dark alley. As they approach to see what is happening, the Rasetsu attacks them, and they are both declared dead by Hijikata next morning.
