To you who has accompanied me... In those days, Kyoto was in a tumultuous era, where murder was a matter of course. During such a time, you came to the capital by yourself. I could not let you go so I kept you by my side, but before I realized it, you became an excellent page. When we are together, for some reason, you are always able to draw out what is inside of my heart. I am truly glad to have met you. Please take care of me in the future. Hijikata Toshizou |
To you my little accomplice... When I first met you, I thought, "Here's a problematic child". No matter how you look at it, you were not able to help us, however, we could not leave you behind either. I thought, "Would you run away if I bullied you?" Who would have known that you would be unexpectedly stubborn. I do not know when it was, but you were recognized as a member of the Shinsengumi. Since you knew about my illness, you have been my accomplice. That is why you will take a responsibility and stay by my side, right? It is a promise. Okita Souji |
To my partner in life... Since the night I met you in Kyoto, was your encounter with the Shinsengumi by chance or inevitable? Thinking about it now, perhaps it can be called fate. From Kyoto to Edo, and also the short time we spent together in Aizu, you have always been by my side. And like me, you believed in the existence of things that did not change, for which I am sincerely grateful. Even when times were changing, your eyes did not show confusion and always looked forward. I hope you continue to accompany me in the future and guide me like you did before. Please take care of me. Saitou Hajime |
To you my beloved... When we were in Edo, I was the one who told everyone about coming to Kyoto. That is why I thought I had to be first at everything I was doing, but I could not get used to a world where I had to kill. It was the time when I met you. You always cared about me and listened to my troubles. Thank you for that. When I was about to stop being a human, I really think it was because of you that I managed to get through it. One day... I will repay you. Wait for me. I promise. Toudou Heisuke |
To my dear wife... Kyoto is a special place for me. After all, is is where I met you. It is where I went after leaving Iyo, my birthplace, and the place I left when I went to Kyoto with everyone. I used to spend my days swinging my sword to kill, and it was when I met you that I remembered what is most important. In my opinion, life is best spent with the person you are most compatible with, and I was able to meet that person. Thank you, and please continue to take care of me in the future. Harada Sanosuke |
To the one I really love... We had not been in Kyoto for long and all I knew was how to recklessly rush forward, and that was the time when you entered the Shinsengumi. You breathed kindness and warmth into my otherwise bleak life. Truly, I cannot thank you enough. Now it feels normal for us to be together, but when I think back to our time in Kyoto, I feel that the way we met was really special. Once again, thank you for meeting me. Nagakura Shinpachi |
To you who walked through the darkness with me... I never thought that I would think back on the time I spent with you in Kyoto again. It feels as if we have nothing but painful memories of each other, but for us, that land cannot be forgotten, and it is a fact that cannot be avoided. It is nice to be able to take this opportunity to chat and reminisce. Even though I was becoming a dweller of the night, you stayed by my side. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Sannan Keisuke |
To my dearest lady... The first time I called you that was when the Shinsengumi was still in Kyoto. While I inadvertently addressed you that way, it seems that I quite like doing that. If I get the chance, can I call you that again? The bloody memories from those days feel so distant from now, but they will always stay in our hearts. Yes, the memories of the two of us we made during our journey will never fade away. Yamazaki Susumu |
To you who is my fate... The two of us met again in Kyoto. Ever since I was a child, I looked forward to seeing you again someday. I did not expect my wish would come true in Kyoto, which is far away from Edo. I have always felt like it was fate. I do not believe in its existence but I am sure it is exactly what brought us together. And now, since everything has come to an end, I would like to go back and see the streets of Kyoto that are full of memories. At that time, please come with me. Iba Hachirou |
To my dearest senpai... Do you remember the day we met? When I first met senpai, I had not joined the Shinsengumi yet. At the time, I was still a bit biased against the Rōshigumi. That day, I learned about how there were many people working every day to keep Kyoto safe, like senpai. I think that is why I took the opportunity to leave my domain and join the Shinsengumi. When I joined the troop in Kyoto, I became senpai's kouhai, which changed my life. Since we met, you have always been with me on this journey, and I am sincerely grateful. Souma Kazue |
My sweet honey... In that era, Kyoto was a special place. Everyone in the Sonnō jōi faction had goals and dreams for that place. I used to be like them, but the most important turning point in my life happened there. Right, that is when I met you. In the beginning, I only regarded you as an intermediary to the Shinsengumi, but your single-mindedness and straightforwardness captivated my heart. Now, I am the one who has been completely charmed by you, though we are now on the same page. I am thankful for such a fate, please take care of me in the future. Sakamoto Ryouma |
My wife... Everything that happened in Kyoto feels nostalgic. When I first saw you, I could not believe my eyes. Despite being one of my kin, you were actually working with humans. At first, I thought I would protect you since you were a valuable female oni, though after surviving the chaos of war together, I decided to make you my wife. Now that it is all over, I can only think you for your decision to stay with the oni kind. I promise to protect your happiness from now on. Kazama Chikage |
