Kashitarō Itō (伊東甲子太郎 Itou Kashitarou) is an antagonist in Hakuōki. He is a temporary member of the Shinsengumi and the eventual founder of the Guardians of the Imperial Tomb. In Kyoto Winds, he is Miki Saburou's elder brother.
His character is based on the historical Itō Kashitarō.
Personality
Itou is subtle, but treacherous. He knows how to employ flattery, and uses it to gain Kondou's trust. However, he also uses this skill to offer backhanded compliments, especially to Sannan, in order to undermine his colleagues. A renowned intellectual, Itou tends to think of himself as more educated and cultured than the rest of the Shinsengumi's officers. However, he rarely brags about his own accomplishments, preferring to put others down by comparison instead.

Chapter 2
Itou is first encountered after Heisuke and Kondou bring him back from Edo, along with a number of other new recruits.
In the musicals
Itou does not appear in HakuMyu. However, he is implied to be just offstage in HakuMyu Okita-hen.
