Kimigiku (君菊), real name Kikuzuki (菊月), is a support character in Hakuōki. She is a ninja in the service of Princess Sen who also works as an oiran in the Sumi, of the second highest rank.
Personality
Kimigiku is ordinarily calm and cool, but can become irate if anyone insults or threatens Sen, to whom she is incredibly loyal. She has great self-control and will obey any order issued by Sen, even if she disagrees with it.
Background
Kimigiku may have been based on one of Hijikata's historical lovers of the same name, also referred to as Okiku (お菊).
In Hakuōki: Shinsengumi Kitan
Chapter 2
Kimigiku is first encountered during a party at the Sumi, where she entertains the group as a geisha. It is not revealed that she works for Sen until the two of them visit the compound together in an effort to persuade Chizuru to leave the Shinsengumi.
In Hakuōki: Kyoto Winds
Kimigiku's involvement in the plot is largely the same as in the first half of Hakuōki: Shinsengumi Kitan, with the following exceptions.
Chapter 5 (Hijikata)
Kimigiku visits the Fushimi magistrate's office with Sen to inform Hijikata that the Fury Corps has lost control.
Chapter 5 (Iba)
Kimigiku appears alongside Sen to help combat Takeda and Koudou.
Etymology
- The name Kimigiku means "lord, noble" (君) (kimi) and "chrysanthemum" (菊) (kiku/giku).
- The real name Kikuzuki means "chrysanthemum" (菊) (kiku) and "moon" (月) (tsuki/zuki).
