Kosuzu (小鈴) is one of the supporting characters in the Hakuouki: Reimeiroku and Hakuouki: Edo Blossoms who works as a maiko in Shimabara. Her real name is Shizu.
Appearance
Kosuzu has long green-ish brown hair which is usually traditionally tied in a bun, save for her bangs, and brown eyes. She wears a traditional kimono both at work and in her free time.
Personality
Kosuzu is a sweet, honest and feisty young lady who is never afraid to speak her mind.
Story
Third Season
Kosuzu appears in Episode 3 when her comments hurt Serizawa's pride. The infuriated commander throws a plate at her face but Ryuunosuke quickly runs into the room and protects her while others try to de-escalate the situation. Later that evening, Ryuunosuke gets the chance to talk to her but insults her work as a maiko prompting her to yell at him and leave.
They accidentally meet some time later as she helps him buy an ink stick. He elaborates on his thoughts about her work once again and she slaps him across the face running away in tears.
When Harada makes Ryuunosuke come and apologize, Kosuzu explains that maikos do not just silently pour alcohol doing a half-hearted job, they train and educate themselves daily to be able to perform various kinds of arts. As she sees that he understood, she accepts his apology.
Games
By this time, Kosuzu has settled down with Ryunosuke.
Heisuke's route
Heisuke and Chizuru notice Ryunosuke and Shizu walking down the street. Seeing the two of them together, Heisuke laments that he cannot lead a normal life, and Chizuru reassures him to the contrary.
Harada's route
Harada's is the only route in which Kosuzu's real name is revealed to be Shizu.
Yamazaki's route
Shizu does not make an appearance, but in the epilogue, "Ryunosuke's child" is said to have an appointment at the Yukimura clinic. Since Shizu is Ryunosuke's wife, it can be inferred that she is his child's mother.
Souma's route
Shizu does not make an appearance, but upon leaving Ryunosuke's house, Harada requests that he give her his regards.
Etymology
- The name Kosuzu means "small" (小) (ko) and "bell" (鈴) (suzu).
Trivia
- Kosuzu is an original character for Hakuouki who is Ryuunosuke Ibuki's love interest in both the game and anime.
- Kosuzu appears in Hakuouki SSL where she attends Shimabara Girls School as a first year student.
