Ryūnosuke Ibuki (井吹龍之介 Ibuki Ryuunosuke) is a fictional character and the main protagonist of Hakuouki: Reimeiroku and a minor character in Hakuōki: Edo Blossoms. He is also mentioned in Hakuōki: Kyoto Winds.
In Hakuōki: Kyoto Winds
Although Ryuunosuke does not make an appearance, he is mentioned on Souma's route. Some time after leaving the Shinsengumi, Ryuunosuke became an artist's apprentice in Edo and took Souma in when he needed a place to go. When Souma left to seek his fortune in Kyoto, Ryuunosuke allowed him to take one of his prints as a farewell present, and he chose an image of Serizawa Kamo as a Rasetsu.
Later on, Heisuke tells Souma and Chizuru about Ryuunosuke's brief involvement with the Rōshigumi, expressing relief that he is all right.
In Hakuōki: Edo Blossoms
By this time, Ryuunosuke has settled down with Kosuzu.
Hijikata's route
Ryuunosuke appears in Chapter 2, but is never formally introduced, as Chizuru only overhears a conversation between him and Souma. However, though Souma pressures him to talk to Hijikata about anything he has to say to the Shinsengumi, he declines.
Heisuke's route
Although Heisuke and Chizuru do not interact with Ryuunosuke, they see him walking down the street with Shizu. Seeing the two of them happy, Heisuke then mourns the loss of his chance at a normal life.
Harada's route
Harada and Chizuru stay with Ryuunosuke briefly before going to Ueno to confront Koudou and his Rasetsu.
Yamazaki's route
When Yamazaki collapses from bloodlust, Ryuunosuke helps Chizuru pick him up. Once Yamazaki regains consciousness, Ryuunosuke recognizes him, but Yamazaki denies that he knows him and leaves the scene.
Ryuunosuke does not appear for the rest of the route, but is mentioned again in the epilogue. When Yamazaki and Chizuru are settled in the Yukimura clinic as doctors, Ryuunosuke's child (presumably with Shizu) is said to be coming for an appointment.
Souma's route
Ryuunosuke takes Souma, Nomura, and Chizuru into his home to escape an imperial guard. There, they find Harada recovering from a wound he received at Ueno.
In the musicals
Ryuunosuke is portrayed by Shiramata Atsushi in all his HakuMyu appearances.
Themes
"Ryūnosuke no Kaiko" is Ryuunosuke's main leitmotif.
Trivia
- Ryuunosuke does not carry a wakizashi.
