Shinpachi Nagakura (永倉新八 Nagakura Shinpachi) is a math teacher at Hakuou Academy. He used to go to the same university as Harada, and now the two live in the same apartment.
Appearance
Nagakura is a tall athletic man with short dark hair and blue eyes. Despite being a math teacher, he always wears a green tracksuit and a white headband, which leads people to believe that he is a PE teacher instead.
Personality
Nagakura has a vivid and boisterous personality, he loves horse racing and alcohol, and he is very reckless with money. However, he is also a very passionate person who cares about his students, and he is incredibly knowledgeable in his field.

Nagakura has his own route in the game which allows players to experience school romance between him and Chizuru (the protagonist).
Anime OVA
In the short OVA, Nagakura's appearances are brief but memorable: first he is seen yelled at by Hijikata for listening to music and betting on horses, then during the medical examination he sees Chizuru enter the gym and rushes to remove the top part of his clothes only to showcase his muscles. He gets punched by Hijikata for doing so, which is why he is forced to go to the school doctor. Sannan offers him some amazing secret cure and Shinpachi gladly drinks the vial with red liquid (despite Yamazaki's feeble attempts to prevent it). After drinking the serum, Shinpachi's hair turn white and he seems completely healed and cheerful.

Nagakura-sensei appears in Episode 1 as he runs into the teachers' room screaming that he will not be able to live another month, looking at his papers. Hijikata-sensei reminds him that gambling is not allowed, and Kondou-san threatens to teach him a lesson. Realizing the situation, Nagakura-sensei runs away to prepare for the lessons.
As a class teacher for 2-2, in Episode 3 Nagakura-sensei oversees the process of students brainstorming ideas for the upcoming school festival, and when Yamazaki proposes a haunted house Nagakura-sensei looks scared because he is afraid that real ghosts will appear. Later, Shinpachi discusses the situation with Heisuke in Episode 4 and confesses that having his students organize a haunted house upsets him to the point of regretting ever becoming a teacher. He takes Heisuke's food and asks for his worries in return, and when Heisuke refuses to open up Shinpachi advises him to stop thinking too much about problems and do what he believes is right.
During the mission to save Chizuru, Shinpachi is absent, and the others assume that he is busy watching horse races. He is later seen in the teachers' room again wondering about Chizuru's well-being.
