Takeaki Enomoto (榎本 武揚, Enomoto Takeaki) is a support character in Hakuouki: Hekketsuroku. He is the Deputy President of the Bakufu Navy, Captain of the flagship, Kaiyomaru, and later President of the Republic of Ezo. Although he is a substantial leader of the Bakufu Navy, he later escaped from Edo with a warship and worked with Hijikata.
He is based on the historical Enomoto Takeaki.
Story
Enomoto appears at the end of the second season as the head of the former Bakufu navy. He is first seen meeting with Toshizou Hijikata complimenting his efforts and apologizing for not being able to rescue Isami Kondou. He also informs Hijikata of unusual behavior from the Sendai Daimyo's side as he has not been able to contact them no matter what. Developing the topic, Enomoto reveals a series of mysterious deaths of civilians that have recently started, and an unidentified unit of soldiers entering and leaving the Sendai castle freely. Enomoto is asked not to interfere with the latter and focus on the former instead.
After the Shinsengumi take over Sendai Castle, Enomoto announces his ambition to head for Ezo and create a new country there, becoming the President of the Republic of Ezo.
Later on, Enomoto takes the blame for losing 2 of the strategic ships the former Bakufu army had, but Hijikata decides not to blame him and move on to coming up with the next plan of action. Others support that and remind Enomoto of the necessity to negotiate with the Imperial Army.
