Hakuoki (薄桜鬼) is a franchise of a substantial size that consists of otome games (visual novels), anime series, anime movies and live actions. One of the reasons for its popularity is a wide range of characters who can be romanced and whose life stories can be explored. But how old are those people from Hakuouki we know and love?
How old is Chizuru Hakuoki?
Chizuru Yukimura is 16 years old in the beginning of the story and nearing 21 at the end of the main events (Boshin War).
How old are the Hakuouki characters
The main Hakuōki characters that have a historical prototype are of the same age during their first appearance as their real-life counterparts (excluding Yamazaki Susumu whose age in Hakuoki is unknown but he is meant to be considerably younger than his prototype):

- Kimigiku: 23
- Yukimura Kodo: 45
The age is not reflected much during the story as all characters are given equal trust and respect regardless of the age and depending on their actions, ranks and achievements (for instance, Heisuke is the youngest Captain but he is treated no worse than others, but Saito, despite being only a couple of months older, has gained more trust with secret missions due to his personality). The age also does not affect Chizuru's possibility to romance the character, whether it is young Heisuke or mature Sannan.
